Introduction

Warwick, the Uncaged Wrath of Zaun, is the original sustain jungler in League of Legends Classic. His passive Eternal Hunger heals him on every auto-attack, his Jaws of the Beast (Q) deals %HP damage while healing, and his Blood Hunt (W) passively reveals low-HP enemies anywhere on the map. In classic LoL, Warwick is the safest and most forgiving jungler — you can clear the jungle without ever recalling, and his point-and-click ultimate Infinite Duress (R) guarantees picks on priority targets.

Classic Build

Core Items

| Item | Cost | Why | |------|------|-----| | Blade of the Ruined King | 3,300g | %HP on-hit damage with attack speed and lifesteal | | Jak'Sho, the Protean | 3,200g | Armor and MR that ramps in combat — perfect for diving | | Titanic Hydra | 3,300g | HP scaling, wave clear, and auto-attack reset |

Full Build

  1. Blade of the Ruined King — Core dueling item (rush first)
  2. Plated Steelcaps / Mercury's Treads — Defensive boots
  3. Jak'Sho, the Protean — The tank anchor; ramping resistances for teamfights
  4. Titanic Hydra — HP and AoE on-hit damage
  5. Spirit Visage — Amplifies ALL your healing (passive, Q, R)
  6. Thornmail / Randuin's Omen — Situational armor item

Situational Items

  • Wit's End — On-hit magic damage and MR against heavy AP
  • Sterak's Gage — Burst protection and tenacity
  • Force of Nature — Stacking MR and movement speed
  • Death's Dance — Damage mitigation against AD burst

Runes

Primary: Precision

  • Press the Attack — Three hits increase all damage taken by the target (R applies 3 on-hits, proccing it instantly)
  • Triumph — HP restore on takedown
  • Legend: Alacrity — Attack speed for faster clears
  • Last Stand — Deal more damage at low HP (you spend a lot of time low)

Secondary: Domination

  • Sudden Impact — Lethality and magic pen after Q dash
  • Relentless Hunter — Out-of-combat movement speed for ganks

Stat Shards

  • Attack Speed
  • Adaptive Force
  • Armor

Skill Order

W > Q > E

  1. Blood Hunt (W) — Max first for massive attack speed against low HP targets (best jungle clear boost)
  2. Jaws of the Beast (Q) — Max second for %HP damage and healing
  3. Primal Howl (E) — Max last; value is the damage reduction, not the fear
  4. Infinite Duress (R) — Take whenever possible (6/11/16)

Early Levels

Level 1: W — Blood Hunt (fast first clear) Level 2: Q — Jaws of the Beast (sustain) Level 3: E — Primal Howl (damage reduction) Level 4: W

Jungle Pathing

Standard Full Clear (Recommended)

Blue Buff → Gromp → Wolves → Raptors → Red Buff → Krugs → Scuttle Crab

Start Blue side. Use W's attack speed to clear quickly. Smite Gromp and Red Buff. Warwick's passive sustain means you'll finish the clear at full HP — ready to gank or contest Scuttle Crab.

Level 3 Gank Path

Blue Buff → Gromp → Red Buff → Gank

This fast level 3 path gets you into a lane while laners are still level 2. Use this against immobile laners (Ashe, Jinx, Xerath).

Invade Path (Against Weak Early Junglers)

Enemy Red Buff → Enemy Krugs → Your Blue → Your Gromp → Gank

Warwick wins almost every level 2-3 duel. If the enemy jungler is a weak early game champion (Amumu, Fiddlesticks), start at their second buff and fight them.

Gameplay Tips

Early Game (0-10 min)

  • Don't use potions on your first clear — your passive and Q keep you full HP
  • Follow your W trail — the movement speed boost leads you directly to low-HP enemies for free ganks
  • Start objectives early: Warwick can solo Dragon at level 4-5 thanks to his sustain
  • Track the enemy jungler with W's global passive — it shows who's low anywhere on the map

Mid Game (10-25 min)

  • Gank lanes with CC — your laner's stun/slow sets up your R perfectly
  • Hold R for priority targets — the enemy ADC or mid laner
  • R can be used to escape: the leap range is huge; jump to jungle camps over walls
  • Counter-jungle aggressively — Warwick wins most 1v1s

Late Game / Teamfights

  • Suppress the enemy carry with R at the start of the fight
  • Follow up with Q (hold for the dash-through) and E for damage reduction
  • Fear multiple enemies with E's second cast to disrupt their frontline
  • You are a diver/initiator — don't peel, go in and disrupt
  • Your sustain allows you to re-engage after taking damage

Counters

Strong Against

  • Master Yi — Point-and-click suppression beats Yi's Q dodge
  • Kha'Zix — Warwick's sustain outlasts Kha'Zix's burst
  • Evelynn — W passive reveals her in stealth when low HP
  • Any immobile ADC — R is undodgeable without Flash or QSS

Weak Against

  • Olaf — Unstoppable ultimate ignores your R suppression
  • Udyr — Out-duels you early, out-runs you late
  • Morgana — Black Shield blocks your R and Q
  • Janna — Tornado and Monsoon disrupt your engage

FAQ

Is Warwick good for learning jungle?

Absolutely. Warwick is the best champion to learn jungle on in classic League of Legends. His passive sustain removes the need to kite camps, his W tells you where to gank, and his point-and-click CC guarantees value. You'll learn pathing, objective control, and gank timing without fighting your champion's mechanics.

How does Warwick's W (Blood Hunt) work?

Blood Hunt has two parts: (1) Passive: enemies below 50% HP anywhere on the map leave a blood trail toward their location. You gain movement speed when moving toward them. (2) Active: briefly reveals and marks the nearest champion regardless of HP.

What is the Warwick oneshot combo?

W (activate) → R (suppress) → Q (hold for dash-through) → auto-attack → Titanic Hydra (reset) → E (fear) → auto-attack. With Press the Attack, this combo deletes squishy carries from 100% to 0 before the suppression ends.
